Fused lotus and chrysanthemum flowers are the focus of this contemporary Arita ware dish, and the fine, gloss white porcelain beautifully accents the twin blue hand-painted bowls. The two shades of blue are time-honored colors typical of artisans from the Arita region—a lighter, pastel blue pairs with a much deeper, rich blue hue. Having the graduated colors imparts old world-charm to the modern styling, and allows for spotlighting of the dishes contents. Each bowl's graduated size makes this piece ideal for serving snacks, pickles, or sauces.

Sauce Dish

Tiny plates are useful in a number of ways. They're handy dishes for holding condiments, dry seasonings like salt and pepper, soy sauce for sashimi, small delicacies, or pickles. Mini plates are also quite popular to collect thanks to their compact size, variety of designs, and visual impact on the dining table.

Arita Ware

Arita porcelain originates from an area known as Arita on the Island of Kyushu, Japan. It is known as the birthplace of fine Japanese porcelain, and the artisans of Arita have produced exceptional ceramic works for more than 400 years. The beautiful contrast between the porcelain and the hand-painting is obtained by using exceptionally high-quality porcelain stone, allowing the glazed surface to display a distinct glossy mirror with a rich ivory luster.
