This adorable gingerbread man should come with a notification; he is for keeping chopsticks aloft and not for eating! The talented Japanese artisans who make these porcelain miniatures are fabulous at their craft, as the careful detailing on this happy little gingerbread man displays. By ingenious use of the clay’s natural cocoa color and rippled texture, this little fellow looks freshly baked for a festive table. He even has a slightly dimpled belly, the perfect nesting place for chopsticks. These porcelain rests are part of a JOC Goods collection of chopstick rests, allowing personalization or mix-and-match themes for your culinary entertaining.

Chopstick Rest

When setting the table for a Japanese meal, chopstick rests (hashioki) are a must-have item. These rests are essential for hygiene so the chopsticks don’t touch the table. They are also a wonderful way to add whimsy, charm, and a personal touch to your table setting. With so many themes and designs to choose, chopstick rests are quite popular to collect. It's fun to switch them up for different seasons, menus, and occasions.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
