Fire-red maple leaf chopstick rests add a touch of elegant charm to your dining table, imparting a quiet elegance with a practical side. Chopstick rests are an essential part of traditional Japanese dining and also serve an important secondary role, bringing character and personality to your place settings. The Mino ware artisans who craft these attractive maple leaves are masters at their craft, easily seen in the quality of detailing and rich glaze work. The much-revered Japanese maple leaves symbolize the arrival of autumn, a time of year called ‘koyo,’ or red leaf season, and this miniature chopstick rest allows you to bring the koyo atmosphere to your culinary entertaining.

Chopstick Rest

When setting the table for a Japanese meal, chopstick rests (hashioki) are a must-have item. These rests are essential for hygiene so the chopsticks don’t touch the table. They are also a wonderful way to add whimsy, charm, and a personal touch to your table setting. With so many themes and designs to choose, chopstick rests are quite popular to collect. It's fun to switch them up for different seasons, menus, and occasions.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
