The gray 'Cloud Whisper' series of teapots from the city of Tokoname incorporates modern crafting into a classic, minimalist design. The tight-fitting lid's precision molding ensures a perfectly snug fit, and an easy-to-clean internal tea strainer cleverly removes the need for a metal tea basket. Listed as one of Japan's six ancient kilns, Tokoname kilns have produced fabulous yaki (fired clay) pottery pieces of exceptional quality since the 12th century, and this Tokoname teapot is no exception. Carefully controlled firing temperatures ensure this durable teapot remains slightly porous, a quality much sought after by tea aficionados. From the elegant handle to the perfectly shaped spout, the Cloud Whisper series of teapots has been meticulously crafted to ensure the perfect cup of tea. These teapots are part of a grouped set of JOC goods, one that includes colors varying from pale beige to Charcoal-black. Japanese teapots are designed with a top handle, side handle, back handle, or sometimes no handle. They are usually made of clay, porcelain, glass, or cast iron. Japanese teapots are made for brewing loose green tea leaves and use either a built-in or metal filter to hold back the leaves when pouring the tea. They come in different sizes, from single-serving vessels to family-size teapots.
