This rectangular plate features a stunning Edo-inspired motif but with a playful twist. The patterns displayed are centuries old and speak to good luck and good fortune. However, it is the character heralding this positive message which commands attention. The adorable Tyrannosaurus Rex in residence has been humorously tasked with roaring out the sophisticated Japanese motif and bringing smiles to your dinner guests while doing so. This high-gloss Mino ware rectangular plate is ideal for various uses, from desserts and appetizers to sashimi and petite appetizer servings such as goma wakame.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
