This Arita ware round sauce dish by Shobido Honten is a reproduction of a design in the Ko-Imari style. This artisan-painted pattern uses the Rinpa art style developed during the Edo period (1603–1868) to depict trees and flowers with bold colors and compositions using gold leaf lavishly. Here, large chrysanthemum flowers bloom against an indigo background on white porcelain, and garden trees appear in the window. Use this luxurious small dish for celebratory occasions and everyday meals alike to serve small delicacies, soy sauce for sashimi, pickles, and more.
