This stunning ‘Serenity’ round teapot in a quiet beige color combines the best Japanese minimalist styling and modern enhancements. The talented artisans in Tokoname City who make these teapots have produced fabulous yaki (fired clay) pottery pieces since the 12th century. While using ancient techniques handed down from generation to generation, new crafting methods are also incorporated into this teapot’s construction—such as new methods of molding the lid to form a perfectly snug fit and an easy-to-clean internal tea strainer. The clever construction removes the need for a metal tea basket when making traditional loose-leaf Japanese tea. These Serenity clay teapots are also packaged in an attractive box, making them an excellent gift. This teapot is available on JOC goods in various colors, from natural clay to dark black. Matching cups in the same color are also available, making it ideal for a complete, elegant tea set.

Teapot

Japanese teapots are designed with a top handle, side handle, back handle, or sometimes no handle. They are usually made of clay, porcelain, glass, or cast iron. Japanese teapots are made for brewing loose green tea leaves and use either a built-in or metal filter to hold back the leaves when pouring the tea. They come in different sizes, from single-serving vessels to family-size teapots. Typical tea sets come with a teapot and five (or sometimes two) matching teacups.
