This Arita ware round dessert plate by Shobido Honten is decorated in the Ko-Imari style popularized during the Edo period (1603–1868). This piece features the handcrafted somenishiki technique in which red, green, and gold overglaze porcelain is applied by artisans to blue and white porcelain. Here, lush peonies and chrysanthemums adorn the brocade golden ring layered on an indigo diamond pattern below, creating a truly gorgeous effect.
