This Arita ware round salad plate by Shobido Honten is decorated in the Ko-Imari style popularized during the Edo period (1603–1868). This piece features the handcrafted somenishiki technique in which red, green, and gold overglaze porcelain is applied by artisans to blue and white porcelain. Here, lush peonies and chrysanthemums adorn the brocade golden ring layered onto an indigo diamond pattern, creating a truly gorgeous effect. Use this exquisite medium plate for celebratory occasions or everyday meals to serve salads, appetizers, ichiju sansai main dishes, and side dishes.
